When media publicizes big fat marriages it severely damages the cause of woman foetus.
No other factor is as much responsible for skewing gender ratio as the Indian marriages in which girl’s father even after having a highly accomplished daughter is at the receiving end.
All linked with media need to ponder over and pass a resolution to not give publicity to such marriages where money is squandered, even if it means loss of advertisement revenue.

In the end it melts down to ‘NATURAL LEADERSHIP’
Mr. Manmohan Singh, our PM, may be having thousand and one qualities which make him a better human being than the present crop of politicians. But, he is not a natural leader, being on the seat courtesy Sonia Gandhi( no intention to cast aspersion). Fact remains that the Prime Minister in a democracy and that also a huge and diverse like India must be a natural leader, elected by people and their representatives.

They should not have chosen army and judiciary as their career
Two news stories in today's paper Lt. General gets three years RI in ration scam and SC seeks status report ob complaint against former Chief Justice of India amply throw light on the state of affairs in our country.
Other day we red two generals from the Army and a few Admirals are involved in Ararsh Housing Society scam. I am distraught like any other right minded person. Has the infection of corruption already rampant among politicians, bureaucrats and businessmen now insidiously spread itself among the judiciary and the armed forces?
Everywhere we turn today there are signs of ethical deterioration. In business, bright young people have made immoral millions by using insider-trading information. In government, hardly a day goes by without some public official being involved in an ethical dilemma. In education, there are cheating scandals among students, teachers and those who run these institutions.. Obviously, all these people, many of them supposedly outstanding citizens, believed that they had to cheat to win. They, along with many others, believe that nice guys finish last.
Both the judges and the generals forgot that Purpose is the Objective or Intention, something towards which you are always striving. It is not the same as a ‘goal’. A goal is tangible. It is something definite that you can accomplish. A purpose is ongoing. It gives meaning and definition to our lives. A goal can be to make money, but for a general or a judge, would they feel comfortable with that as the purpose in life? If yes, then they should have chosen to be tradesmen or businessmen in the first place. However, even for tradesmen, money would perhaps not be the purpose of life, although money may be a major goal. But for the judiciary, armed services, academia, researchers or many other professions like journalism, money can never be a major goal.
We have fortunately many silver linings around these few dark clouds. I think of the former Chairman of EXIM Bank of India, who after retirement moved from his company Napean Sea Apartment to a two bedroom apartment at Goregaon. He lived there content and peaceful. Another Managing Director of SBI retired and moved from Malabar Hill to Andheri and was not ashamed at the move. There is the Lt. General who retired as GOC in C and went back to a modest home in Santacruz, a suburb of Mumbai, from a sprawling bungalow in an army cantonment. All these and many more had a “purpose”. They looked for self actualisation in what they had chosen to do as a career. They took the remuneration that went with the career, without trying to compete with successful businessmen and industrialists. They had done a good job; enjoyed doing it; and moved off centre stage with pride, dignity and a sense of self worth!
In an age of eroding values, we need to salute them. These values will endure even when those who despise them have died.

LOVE
There are three types of Love
Satvik-here the lover does not expect anything in return
Rajsik-Love combined with feverishness and a desire to get something back
Tamsik- here love is with selfish motive-result is devastation
But, there is another ‘love’ which is superior to these three forms of love and that is ‘Divine’ love
While all wordly loves are like the ocean which has a bottom at some point, Divine love is like the sky which is limitless.
All worldly loves diminish with time but not the ‘Divine love’. A child loves its mother and as the child gets older, the love for the mother recedes because its new focus becomes friends, spouse and children. But, on the contrary Divine love grows with time and never recedes.
One should always remember that the ability to receive love comes with the ability to give love.
The one who is always expecting others to love him without becoming the donor remains thirsty and frustrated.

Our polity touching new low
ISSUE OF CENTRAL VIGILANCE COMMISSIONER (CVC) APPOINTMENT BEFORE THE APEX COURT
There are three members in the panel to select a candidate for CVC post. When Govt. says that panel was not aware of the pending charge sheet afainst PJ Tomas, the man who was selected, it is tantamount saying that PM and Home Minister were not in the know of it. But the third member, the leader of opposition Sushma Swaraj says that she had raised the issue at that point itself, which is a fact also if we go by the past reports.
PM should explain. Common man is beleagured.

Our media praising tendulkar sky high Put the things in right perspective
Tendulkar's 50 centuries in 175 tests at an average of 56 is a fantastic achievement by all standards but is not something exceptional. You can do it by closing your eyes to the things happening around. kallis when sked to comment was very much right in saying" it's a fantastic achievment, as there were many by other players too." How one can be obscure to the achievement of Kallis 38 centuries in 143 tests at an average of 58. Sangakara 25 centuries in 90 odd tests at the same average or for that matter even Ponting who after having performed very poorly in last two years has equally glorious record of 39 centuries in 150 tests and last our own Viru who not only has scored runs and centuries but dominated the bowling which no other batsman could do.
Today bowlers and captains all around the world work our plans for Viru and not Tendulkar and it is the true measure of the greatness of the batsman.
Nothing wrong if we are generous in showering praise on our own players but it looks a bit cheap if we are short of words for others with equally illustrious careers. It reminds me of Dronacharya's love for Arjun which prevented him from accepting the skills of Karna and Eklavya.
Today bowlers and captains all around the world work our plans for Viru and not Tendulkar and it is the true measure of the greatness of the batsman.

The fine art of giving
No words are enough to describe the rare act of Philanthropy of Wipro chairman Azim Prem who will give about Rs 8846 crore from his personal wealth to improve school education. This act is unique in the sense that most of the times our captains of industry donate money to Western universities or for raising such Public schools and Universities which are either money spinners or remain the preserve of elite class only.
But, here I will like to remind that while Mr. Azim Prem Ji has donated part of his huge wealth for this noble cause there have been such instances when people not only donated all their assets but all devoted their whole life for the cause of education and one such personality was Swami Shardhanand of Arya Samaj, an advocate by profession, who in the year 1901 sold off all his assets running in to lacs at that time to set up Gurukul Kangri Haridwa. This University was visited by Mahatma Gandhi also in the year-1915 and Mahatma had only adulations for the holistic approach to system of education followed there.But this is in no way to belittle the heroics of Azim Premji. May more and more emulate him.
