Simply amusing- Sonia's outburst in Varanasi

In Varanasi session of Congress, the party president Sonia Gandhi said that while Congress had improved its position substantially in the current assembly elections, BJP were completely decimated.
Well I'm no BJP fan but was amused at this assessment of the President of the party which rules the nation.

Fact is that leaving aside Assam, Congress has faced reverses. In TN it lost heavily, in Kerala, its number is less than what it was last time and what it was expecting. Coupled with it by-election results had nothing encouraging for the party. Lost all three seats in Karnatka and what should be really worrisome is that its fort in Andhra, which always has been sending maximum MP's to the congress kitty, looks like crumbling.

I don't know how a Party president can draw solace from this performance.

A wonderful piece of advice from Tamil Nadu brethren

Prefer a bachelor CM to the one who is married.
Well if bachelor is not in the contest; opt for the one with single spouse. But, never--- opt for the one with multiple spouses.

If Jayalalitha with very poor record of delivery in her previous tenures as CM has romped home victorious again, it is only this factor which has contributed to her spectacular success.

It is also a lesson for those who want to make politics as their career. Best is to remain bachelor. Well if you can’t restrain then remain childless. But, if you find it difficult to curb your desire for children then confine it to one or two, not in dozens like our Karuna. Modi's three consecutive wins despite heavy odds against him support this finding.

Clean image of the leader is valued

Bhartendu Sood, 231/45-A, Chandigarh

The out come of the polls has revealed beyond doubt that the clean image of the leader matters very much which should gladden every body. Staler performance of VS Achuthanandan in Kerala, Tarun Gogoi's hat rick in Assam and fall of Karuna regime in TN despite its good pro poor actions in last five years manifest this beyond any doubt.

The worrisome factor is emerging tendency of minorities to polarize as was visible in Kerala.

Reasoning of faith

I beg to differ with Mr. K. Veeramani when he says that in religion there is no place for questioning. In India if so many sects have taken birth and have flourished, it is mainly because of two reasons. First, the founders of these sects questioned certain beliefs, interpretations of the holy texts and the rituals which were in vogue in their respective times whether it is Sikhism or Arya Samaj. Second, in India free expression of views was never restricted unlike in many countries where resoning of holy texts constitutes blasphemy. Fact of matter is that the element of reasoning and questioning of faith prevailed in India in all periods. For example Guru Nanak Dev and Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati both questioned many such practices, rituals and beliefs in Hinduism, being practiced at those times, which created inequality in humanity and gender bias. Buddhism and Jainism surfaced only because Hinduism as interpreted by the religious heads at that time was reasoned.

Reasoning of religion will never cease. For example many states have banned slaughter of animals in the temples though it was defended by many as a part of religion. Likewise Maharashtra govt. has promulgated anti superstition law, the eradication of blind faith bill to stop black magic and human sacrifices. It is happening because of the reasoning only.

Religion will always be questioned and reasoned in an open society in the changing times but basic core of religion which aims at making a man good human being will remain intact. Bad people do bad acts and good people do good acts, but a true religion many a times has made bad people turn good not always because they started accepting God.

Confining religion to acceptance of God is too narrow a perception of Mr. K. Veeramai. What would he say about Buddhism? For example there are religions which derive their strength from the concept of Karma Bhog ie fruit of ones actions and it goes to turn believers in to better human beings.

Osama's burial in Sea

Muslim clerics say that burial in sea is anti Islamic. But, how can one follow the tenets in death for him who flouted tenets of his religion when he was alive.

Last, we should not forget that the terrorists linked in 29/11 attack were denied burial space by the Muslims in Mumbai. If terrorist could be denied the burial space how the one who was the most influencing factor when it comes to giving wings to terrorism and under whom global terrorism flourished could be given a burial space on earth. It had to be shark or some aquatic animal's belly.
